Cops Raid Home, Find Cocaine, Cash, Cannabis Pipes

A 20-year-old man targeted in a warrant search is charged with a class X felony after police found 65.9 grams of cocaine, cops said.

OLAND PARK, IL -- Orland Park police raided a home where they recovered a large quantity of cocaine, packaging materials and cash, prosecutors said. Tyler Schiavone, 20, appeared Friday before Cook County Judge Felice on a class X felony count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. He is also facing a misdemeanor charge of possession of a drug paraphernalia.

The raid happened around 10:43 a.m. May 17 in the 8900 block of Chadbourne. Orland Park police were acting on information of drug sales taking place at the home, according to a police news release. After confirming investigation, detectives executed a search warrant. Inside the house, the prosecutor said officers found 65.9 grams of cocaine, a digital scale, packaging materials and cannabis pipes. Police also reportedly found cash. Schiavone was present when the raid was underway, the prosecutor said.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Schiavone lived in Crestwood with his mother, contrary to Orland Park police records. Court files listed his address in the 13900 block of Walter in Crestwood.

Schiavone was arrested April 26, 2017 in Alsip when he punched another man in the eye, knocking the man on the ground where he lost consciousness and dislocated his shoulder, according to court records. He has a conviction for possession of a controlled substance also in 2017 and sentenced to drug school.

“A lot of good it did him,” Felice said. “He’s certainly not going to get drug school now if he’s convicted.”

His mother said she post bond $1,500; bail was set at $15,000. Schiavone is due back in court June 14 in Bridgeport.
