Daughter Caught Shoplifting With Mom Arrested on Warrant: Prosecutor
Daughter was supposed to turn self in after she was caught stealing clothing with mother at Orland Square Sears, prosecutor says.

A woman was brought in on a retail theft warrant when she failed to turn herself into Orland Park police as promised, prosecutors said in court on Wednesday.
Tammy Stevee, 35, was arrested along with her mother, Harriet Stevee, on June 6, after loss prevention officers caught them stealing 15 clothing items from the Sears store at Orland Square Mall.
Stevee told Orland Park police that she had a medical disability. She was released without being charged, on the condition that she turn herself in, prosecutors said.

When Stevee allegedly failed to turn herself in, Orland Park police issued a warrant for her arrest. Stevee was picked up Tuesday evening.
Gregory LaPappa, Stevee’s private attorney, said that his client retained his services soon after her arrest earlier this month. He has also discussed her case with Orland Park police.

“When I found out Miss Stevee was picked up June 23, I asked Orland Park police why they didn’t extend me the professional courtesy of calling,” the attorney told the judge.
Cook County Judge Peter Felice said that LaPappa’s version of events was different from the state’s version.
LaPappa also explained that Stevee was a mother of six young children who was scheduled to be married on Saturday.
“Where’s she going to get married? Cook County Jail,” Judge Felice asked.
Stevee’s mother, a co-defendant, was reportedly detained by police at the time of the theft.
Stevee was released on a $20,000 I-bond. She is due back at the Bridgeview Courthouse on June 30.
