Elderly Man Critically Injured In House Fire
Firefighters rescued two family members in Orland Park house fire.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- An elderly man was critically injured after a fire tore through an Orland Park residence late Tuesday afternoon. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Orland Fire Protection District responded to a report of a fire at 4:50 p.m. in a home in the 14200 block of 84th Avenue in Orland Park. When fire crews arrived, they found the split-level home fully engulfed in smoke. One family member was outside the home, who told firefighters there were still two people inside the house.
Firefighters entered the smoke-filled home to search for the missing family members. Two people were rescued from inside the building. The husband, wife and son were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene. One of the victims, the homeowner’s elderly father who is in his 90s, was transported to Oak Lawn’s Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition. The homeowner’s elderly mother, also in her 90s, was treated at the scene. The age of the son is unknown.

Illinois State Fire Marshall and OFPD investigators are investigating to determine the cause of the fire. Orland fire crews were assisted by Palos, Oak Forest, Tinley Park, Homer, Lockport, Crestwood, New Lenox and Matteson fire departments.
