Bold Lady of 72 vs. Young Thug: Guess Who Wins?
He approached the woman Nov. 27 in Orland mall parking lot and tried to rob her as she was about to step out of her car.
Orland Park police are searching for a man who flashed a handgun and demanded a 72-year-old woman hand over “everything you’ve got” outside Orland Square Mall last week.
The attempted armed robbery took place Nov. 27 in the lower level parking of Carson’s. The victim told police she had just opened her car door to exit, when she was confronted by the man, described as a black male, 25 to 30 years old, 5-foot-6 or 5-foot-7.
He told her to relinquish her belongings, then pulled back his jacket and gestured to his hip, where the victim saw what appeared to be a “large black handgun” attached to his belt line.

When she refused to cooperate, the man tried to take her car keys. The woman then shoved her car door open and exited the car, and the man walked away empty-handed, westbound in the direction of LaGrange Road. He was also described as heavyset, wearing a beige stocking cap, black puffy jacket and blue jeans.
On Friday, Orland Park police released a surveillance-camera photo that shows the man believed to have perpetrated the crime.

A similar armed robbery took place on the same date at the Carson’s store parking lot located in Matteson. Orland Park Investigators are working closely with the Matteson investigators regarding these similar crimes.
