First Retail Theft Arrest At Von Maur Came Before Grand Opening
A Calumet Park man picked up a retail theft charge at Von Maur before some even knew the store was open.

ORLAND PARK, IL — A man was arrested for retail theft at the new upscale Von Maur department store at Orland Square Mall before some even knew the store had opened. Deondre J. Williams, 23, of Calumet Park was arrested there on Oct. 28. The store celebrated its grand opening a few days later on Nov. 2.
Orland Park police were inside the store at 7:25 p.m. on the 28th conducting a "business check," according to a police report. While there, they saw a man they say was later identified as Williams take some Nike clothing off the shelf and into a fitting room.
Upon a check of the fitting room after the man left came up no clothing items, so police determined Williams must have been wearing the items.
