Golf Expo Returns to the Tinley Park Convention Center

TINLEY PARK, IL (January 31, 2018) – It will be all things golf when Tenco Events hosts its seventh annual Tinley Park Golf Expo at the Tinley Park Convention Center February 9-11, 2018.

The family friendly show features nearly 100 vendors selling and demonstrating the latest in golf wear, accessories and equipment.

“People are ready to get out of the house and are looking forward to spring,” said Joe Copeland, co-owner of Tenco Events. “The Tinley Park Golf Expo is a great family outing because we have something for everyone --- male and female golfers, kids learning the game and everyone looking for some great deals at expo prices.

Open to the public, the expo is open Friday, February 9 from noon until 6 p.m.; Saturday, February 10 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday, February 11 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The Tinley Park Convention Center is located at 18451 Convention Center Drive in Tinley Park.

Admission on Friday is $5.00 per person. The cost on Saturday and Sunday is $10 per person with children age 12 and younger admitted for free.

“Our $5 Friday is nice for seniors, retirees and everyone who enjoys a nice afternoon of seeing the latest golf gear and accessories,” said Gregg Tengerstrom, Tenco Events co-owner. “People will be able to learn more about some of the best golf courses in the Chicago area and learn about golf vacations that are available."

Sponsors of the Tinley Park Golf Expo include Apple Chevrolet, Beggar’s Pizza, Callaway Golf, First Tee, Balmoral Woods, Budget Golf and P3 Pro Swing.

Attendees will also be able to sign up for a free one year subscription to “Golf Digest.”

“We will have a number of golf pros from throughout the Chicago area at the Tinley Park show,” Copeland said. “One of the favorites every year is Sr. Cindy Droid from the Sisters of St. Francis who will challenge expo attendees to beat her at a skills contest in ‘Beat the Nun’.”

Activities at the Tinley Park Expo include a longest drive contest with Callaway, a closest to the pin contest on a simulator with Power Sports and a longest putting contest. Callaway Golf will also be doing club fittings.

Vendors include golf courses, retailers, country clubs, gear, golf associations, resorts, training aids, sporting goods and organizations.

“The Tinley Park show is a great way for golfers of all skill levels to get a firsthand look at what’s new for the sport and to talk one on one with some of the best golf pros and instructors in the Chicago area,” Tengerstrom said. “The contest areas are always a hit because people enjoy testing their skills to learn how they can improve their game.”

Among the vendors will be the Disabled Patriot Fund, Freedom Golf Association and First Tee of Greater Chicago.

“The Disabled Patriot Fund is a great group that works to help our returning heroes,” Copeland said. “And, the Freedom Golf Association caters to golfers with physical and developmental disabilities. This group shows how golf can be adapted for individuals with special needs.”

Vendors will showcase all things golf related for all types of golfers.

“We also have First Tee of Greater Chicago coming back again this year,” Tengerstrom said. “This is an international youth development organization that introduces golf and its values to young people.”

The show will be open Friday, February 9 from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m.; Saturday, February 10 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday, February 11 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Admission on Friday is $5 per person while Saturday or Sunday is $10 per person. Children under age 12 and current military with valid Department of Defense identification are admitted for free.

Show attendees may stop at The Nineteenth Hole at the show for pizza, snacks and beverages.
