Homeless Sex Predator Arrested For Failing To Register: Cops

Orland Park man was picked up a warrant when he failed to maintain his weekly registration as a sex offender, prosecutor said.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- A convicted sex predator is accused of letting his law-mandated registration lapse. Jeremy Garcia, 29, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a felony charge of unlawful failure to register. Garcia is currently on probation for the same offense.

The prosecutor said Garcia was required to register with Orland Park police once a week because he is homeless. Garcia’s last registration was Oct. 8. He was required to register again on Oct. 15, but police said that Garcia never showed up.

He was picked up on an arrest warrant. Garcia allegedly admitted to knowing that he was supposed to keep up his weekly sex offender registration.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Garcia was a patient at Linden-Oaks in Naperville, an Edwards Hospital behavioral health treatment facility. He was not able to keep up his registration with the Orland Park Police Department.
