Homer Glen Junior Woman’s Club Donates to Help Kids Fighting Cancer
Homer Glen Junior Woman's Clubs $5,000 donation to the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation.

The Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation was overjoyed to receive an enormous donation of $5,000 from the Homer Glen Junior Woman’s Club. The donation will directly benefit children and teens fighting cancer.
The Homer Glen Junior Woman’s Club is a volunteer women’s organization whose members are dedicated to supporting and raising the awareness of charitable organizations, individuals in need, and the community.
Homer Glen Junior Woman’s Club President and Philanthropy Chairman Megan Mitchell said, “We are very impressed with the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation and how they reach out at a scary time in a young person’s life, bringing a little bit of hope at a difficult time. We are very excited to be working towards helping out these young cancer patients.”

Treasure Chest Foundation CEO and Founder Colleen Kisel expressed her gratitude for the support shown by the Homer Glen Junior Woman’s Club. “We feel so blessed and honored to have the support of the Homer Glen Junior Woman’s Club. The donation will help support thousands of children and teens who endure years and years of unending cancer treatments by rewarding the little ones with a toy, gift or gift card after every procedure.”
The not-for-profit Treasure Chest Foundation now supports more than 10,000 children and teens each month who are diagnosed with cancer by providing a toy or gift card in 49 hospitals nationwide. Nowhere else in the nation does such a program exist. CEO Colleen Kisel founded the organization in 1996 after her then seven-year-old son Martin had been diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. Colleen discovered that giving her son a toy after each procedure provided a calming distraction from his pain. Martin celebrated his 23rd anniversary of remission from the disease earlier this year.
