‘Keep Orland Park Strong’: McLaughlin Vows To Help in Mayoral Transition

ORLAND PARK, IL - For many younger generation residents of Orland Park, Dan McLaughlin has been the only mayor they can remember.

But McLaughlin’s 24-year run as the top political official in the village is about to come to an end as local businessman Keith Pekau won the mayoral election earlier this week.

“I will help him in the transition to keep Orland Park strong,” McLaughlin said in a statement on election night.

McLaughlin was a village trustee before he was first elected mayor in 1993. He was elected five more times, but was defeated by Pekau, a political newcomer, by about 1,000 votes.
