Gather around, Orland Park! As we bask in the glow of our new leadership, it's time to have a lighthearted chat about the outgoing mayor, Keith Pekau. If you've been following his social media saga, you might be wondering if we accidentally tuned into a dramatic soap opera rather than the aftermath of a local election. Spoiler alert: Keith lost. By a landslide. And boy, is he not handling it well!

He worked very hard to divert you r attention away from the trainwreck that was his reputation and slick deals with vendors, not to mention his failure as a leader. From being downright misogynistic to displaying an alarming lack of overall respect for residents of our community, Pekau’s legacy is tarnished by none other than himself, sure to go down in history as the biggest mistake Orland Park voters ever made, He took a thriving, well respected and admired village hall and turned it into a circus as the showman took to the dais and banged his gavel at grandmothers and regularly displayed his racism to a live audience of residents..

It’s fascinating how the margin of his defeat felt like a collective “thank you, next” from Orland Park residents. Maybe it’s hard for him to understand that when you spend eight years being the proverbial “power-hungry creep," as he was described by a voter, people might not want to vote for you. Rude comments at meetings and patronizing remarks directed at his female constituents created a reputation that preceded him - one that outweighed any dubious claims about external influences.

And let’s not forget the spectacle of him airing his grievances online. His posts resembling a toddler throwing a tantrum. Newsflash, Keith: you can’t declare "it was unfair!" simply because you didn’t win the game. Here’s a tip for future political endeavors—maybe tone down the grandiose conspiracies and focus instead on treating all your constituents with respect. Stop creating false narratives and try to concentrate on your positive traits. We'll wait while you look for them.

So what’s next for Keith? Perhaps a new career as a social media influencer specializing in “Why I Lost” seminars, where he can share insights on how to alienate your entire electorate and blame everyone but yourself. Honestly, we wish him luck.

We've been told that Pekau is making a final attempt to disgrace the village by delaying the inevitable swearing in of the new administration. While other towns and taxing bodies seem to have no issues scheduling the ceremonious transfer, the Village of Orland Park refuses to confirm the date as of this posting, claiming the delay is a result of Cook County's delay in providing election results.. We have news for you Keith, the results are not going to change. A misplaced voting box full of votes for the continued destruction of Orland Park will not magically appear. The community deserves a fresh start, free from the drama of a self-proclaimed political martyr.
