Girl Scouts require the leadership and planning skills necessary to make a positive impact in the community. That is exactly what the members of Girl Scout Troops 50313 and 58674 from St. Francis Xavier School in La Grange did when they hosted a bake sale raising over $550 and volunteered at the Toys for Tyler Community Toy Drive to benefit the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation (POTCF).
Girl Scout Troop 58674 Leader Therese Byrne said, “We support the Tyler Toy Drive because Tyler would have been in 8th grade this year and in the class of 2018. This is a small way we can honor his memory and support his beautiful family.” Girl Scout Troop 50313 Leader Felicia Havenaar added, “Not only do the girl scouts enjoy assisting with the event since it is fun, they love helping out other children, especially those going through a difficult time. Laura Duelm, Tyler’s mom is a long-time friend, former St. Francis mom and Girl Scout leader so we are very glad to support Toys for Tyler.”
“The Treasure Chest Foundation is especially grateful to Girl Scout Troops 50313 and 58674 for their gift,” said Treasure Chest Founder Colleen Kisel. “Not only do we appreciate the girls’ hard work, but we are so happy to be a part of this wonderful organization which is dedicated to making the world a better place. The Treasure Chest Foundation is a better place because of Girl Scout Troops 50313 and 58674.”
