It’s the first of Baron's three “PR Secrets” workshops in March. The others are on Wednesday, March 27 at the Nichols branch of the Naperville Public Library, 200 W. Jefferson Ave., and Thursday, March 28 at the Addison Public Library, 4 Friendship Plaza.

In the 90-minute workshop, Baron teaches the essential elements that have consistently helped him secure media coverage for clients, from not-for-profit organizations to companies spanning a wide range of industries. He draws upon his nearly 25 years as a journalist and over 15 years serving more than 150 clients through his public relations and strategic communications practice, Inside Edge PR + Media.

As a journalist, Baron’s work has appeared in dozens of publications, including Time, USA Today, the Chicago Tribune and the Daily Herald. For the Tribune, his work spanned local government, business features, breaking news and personality profiles.

Over the past 15 years, Baron has led more than 40 “PR Secrets” workshops that have helped people identify their organization’s legitimate news, as well as how to communicate it to their target audience so that they bolster their credibility and create relationships that result in additional media exposure.

His insights are also informed by eight years as a local elected official, a period when he was a vocal advocate for greater transparency with the public. Baron’s writing on effective public communications includes a recent column headlined `Influencing Public Perception With Proactive Videos’ in School Administrator, a national publication of AASA, The School Superintendents Association.
