McLaughlin Praised in Final Board Meeting

Orland Park Mayor Dan McLaughlin presided over his final board meeting after 24 years.

ORLAND PARK, IL - One of the longest current mayoral runs in the Chicago suburbs is about to come to a close as Mayor Dan McLaughlin of Orland Park presided over his final Village Board meeting this week. A packed audience section on Monday was filled with people providing well wishes to McLaughlin, who has been the mayor of Orland Park since 1993. He served six terms but was defeated by Republican challenger Keith Pekau in his bid for a seventh term.

"Residents, family, friends, village employees, local clergy and people from throughout the community filled the board room at the village hall with a number of presentations made to the mayor with repeated standing ovations," the Village of Orland Park shared in a Facebook post accompanied by several photos from the meeting.

Before his mayorality began in 1993, McLaughlin served as an Orland Park Trustee from 1983 to 1991 and prior to that was on the village's Parking and Traffic Advisory Commission.
