WHAT: 14th Annual Tennis Fun Fest (formerly Crofton/Mattigan Kelly’s Tennis Fun Fest)

WHO: Attendees will have a chance to meet some professional tennis players, play some tennis featuring round robin matches, fun-drills, raffles, refreshments and prizes. Two years ago, Crofton laid down his racket and passed along the job of implementing and coordinating the Tennis Fun Fest to his sister, Mattigan. This year, Mattigan has passed the torch to her brother, Tiernan Kelly, to continue with the job of implementing and coordinating the annual Tennis Fun Fest.

WHEN: Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m.

WHERE: Hinsdale Racquet Club, 5730 S. Grant Street in Hinsdale

WHY: For 13 consecutive years, the Kelly family from La Grange provided a generous helping hand to kids with cancer by organizing, implementing and coordinating a local tennis tournament designed to raise funds to benefit the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation. The Kelly family’s amazing efforts have netted more than $72,650. The Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation unique services impact more than 13,300 young cancer patients each month in 56 cancer treatment centers across 19 states. Nowhere else in the nation does such a program exist. Colleen Kisel founded the organization in 1996 after her then seven-year-old son Martin had been diagnosed with leukemia in 1993.

She discovered that giving her son a toy after each procedure provided a calming distraction from his pain and his new world filled with doctors, nurses, chemotherapy drugs, surgeries and seemingly endless painful procedures. Martin celebrated his 26th anniversary of remission from the disease earlier this year.
