More than Just Music at Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Catholic School

As the students of Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Catholic School (CJB) settle into the 2024-2025 academic year, they are greeted with an exciting change in the Arts Wing. Spearheading this transformation is Mr. Kevin Crowley, affectionately known as Mr. C., the school’s new performing arts teacher. More than just music, Mr. C. is delivering a dynamic program that brings together music, theater, and creative expression for Pre-K through 8th-grade students.

Mr. C.’s palpable passion for music and theater takes him from behind his desk and places him front and center with his students. Mr. C.’s philosophy focuses on the importance of interaction and participation with the arts, and CJB embraces this wholeheartedly. Mr. C.’s presentation of the curriculum comes through more as a conversation with his students rather than just directed instruction, and his students have enjoyed the change immensely.

This hands-on approach has quickly become a hit among students. Weekly sessions are filled with laughter, creativity, and a sense of excitement as students explore a variety of genres within the arts. Mr. C. ensures each lesson is both informative and fun.

CJB Principal, Jeanne Pagliaro, is thrilled with the fresh energy Mr. C. has brought to the school. “Mr. Crowley has been a breath of fresh air, using his passion and knowledge to promote exploration of new genres within the arts. We are thrilled to have him here at CJB, putting his own spin on things and fostering artistic creativity in our students this year.”

The integration of performing arts into the curriculum underscores the school’s commitment to a well-rounded education. By fostering creativity and expression in the arts, CJB is giving its students opportunities to grow both academically and personally. The entire school community is eager to see how Mr. C.’s vision unfolds as the year progresses.

It’s clear that with Mr. C. at the helm, Cardinal Joseph Bernardin Catholic School’s arts program is on track to be something truly special, nurturing the next generation of performers, artists, and confident communicators.

We are also excited to announce that Mr. Crowley, The Bearint Family, and many, parent volunteers, are in the process of casting and working towards the CJB Spring Musical, Bye Bye Birdie. Performance and ticket information for the February 22, 2025 show will be posted closer to the show date.
