Old National Bank Better Together Volunteer Day of Service

Chicagoland Old National Bank teamed up and participated in the Better Together Volunteer Day of Service on September 28, 2022. When the last gift bag of toys was prepared the Old National Bank employees perform the arduous task of folding, labeling, stuffing and sealing a massive mailer and created gift bags for children fighting cancer served the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation. The Treasure Chest Foundation was one of 25 volunteer events throughout the Chicagoland area.

The culture at Old National Bank is rooted in core values, to invest time, heart and expertise so that clients and communities thrive.

Old National Bank Residential Lender Michael Bugajski said, “This is amazing work that the Treasure Chest Foundation does for kids battling cancer and I can only imagine the smile on the faces when the kids get to choose a toy from the treasure chest.” Old National Senior Credit Officer Angie Phillips replied, “We are so grateful for what we have and want to pass it forward to the Treasure Chest Foundation.”

POTCF Founder and CEO Colleen Kisel said, “The Treasure Chest Foundation has enjoyed a partnership with Old National Bank, formally First Midwest Bank for more than ten years. It is never easy to find volunteers, but the Old National Bank Team delivered with a smile every step of the way.”

The POTCF is a unique organization whose services impact more than 15,700 young cancer patients in 65 cancer treatment centers in 21 states across the nation and in the District of Columbia. Nowhere else in the nation does such a program exist. Colleen Kisel founded the organization in 1996 after her then seven-year-old son Martin had been diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. Ms. Kisel discovered that giving her son a toy after each procedure provided a calming distraction from his pain, noting that when children are diagnosed with cancer their world soon becomes filled with doctors, nurses, chemotherapy drugs, surgeries and seemingly endless painful procedures. Martin celebrated his 29th anniversary of remission from the disease in March of this year.
