The district will use money from the grant to purchase new portable radios.

ORLAND PARK, IL - The Orland Fire Protection District has been awarded a grant from the Department of Homeland Security. The district will receive $143,182 through the department's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, Illinois Congressman Dan Lipinski announced.

“Federal funding is needed to meet the increased demands being placed on our nation's first responders,” said Lipinski. “They put their lives on the line for us each and every day, so I want to do all that I can to fully support their important mission and safety. This federal assistance will provide equipment that will help these men and women do the best possible job.”

The grant will be used to help purchase new portable radios.
