Orland Park Honors Outgoing And Veteran Trustees

Village leaders honored trustees Patricia Gira, Carole Griffin Ruzich, Michael Carroll and Jim Dodge for decades of public service.

ORLAND PARK, IL — Leaders from the Village of Orland Park took a break from official business at the board meeting Monday night to honor outgoing and veteran trustees for their public service.

The Orland Park Board of Trustees said farewell to trustees Patricia Gira, Carole Griffin Ruzich and Michael Carroll. Gira, who was elected to the board in 2003, and Carroll, who was elected in 2015, did not run for office in the 2019 elections. Ruzich lost her bid for her third term. She was first elected in 2011.

All three, however, spent many years working for the public through other village offices. You can read about their backgrounds on the village's Facebook page.

The village also honored trustee Jim Dodge for his 30 years of service on the board.
Dodge was the youngest elected official in the history of the village when voters chose him to serve as clerk at 26. He has served as a village trustee since 1996, after he was appointed to serve the remainder of the Bill Vogel's term, and has been re-elected to office since.

Dodge has joked he will run for mayor in 2021.
