Orland Park Man Delivers Smiles of Joy to Children Fighting Cancer

Danny Wright loads his truck to deliver over 500 pounds of toys to Rush Presbyterian-St Luke, John H. Stroger Jr. and UIC Hospitals.

Danny Wright of Orland Park believes in supporting children and teens fighting cancer. For the past three years, Danny has delivered more than 500 pounds of toys every month to Rush Presbyterian-St Luke Hospital, John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital and UIC Hospital all located in Chicago to benefit the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation.

When asked about his motivation for delivering the toys, Danny Wright humbly said, “I just deliver the toys. There really are no thanks needed. I thank the Treasure Chest Foundation and donors for all that they do for the kids fighting cancer.”

Treasure Chest Foundation CEO and Founder Colleen Kisel said, “This is an enormous donation as the cost of shipping has skyrocketed over the years. Danny Wright has saved the Treasure Chest Foundation thousands of dollars on the cost of shipping for the past three years.”

The not-for-profit Treasure Chest Foundation now supports more than 9,300 children and teens each month who are diagnosed with cancer by providing a toy or gift card in 49 hospitals nationwide. Nowhere else in the nation does such a program exist. CEO Colleen Kisel founded the organization in 1996 after her then seven-year-old son Martin had been diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. Colleen discovered that giving her son a toy after each procedure provided a calming distraction from his pain. Martin celebrated his 23rd anniversary of remission from the disease earlier this year.
