Prosecutors said that officers later spotted Kelleher’s car on Wolf Road making improper lane changes. The 55-year-old Kelleher also was not wearing a seatbelt.

Kelleher allegedly failed field sobriety tests and appeared drunk when speaking with officers. He also blew a .175 in a Breathalyzer test, police said.

Prosecutors said that Kelleher was arrested and convicted eight times for driving under the influence between 1982 and 1999. He also has three prior convictions for driving on a revoked license.

Kelleher was charged with aggravated DUI, a class X felony, and driving on a revoked license, also a felony. If convicted on the DUI charge, he faces a minimum of six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Kelleher’s attorney pointed out to the judge that his client has not appeared in a courtroom for 16 years.

The judge ordered Kelleher held in lieu of $150,000. Kelleher is also to wear an alcohol monitoring device and subject to electronic home monitoring should he bond out.

Kelleher is due back in court in Bridgeview on Dec. 30.
