Orland Park Parolee Swipes Gun From Unlocked Vehicle: COPS
Gun was found inside a backpack in Orland Park parolee's car, police said.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- A parolee was arrested after he was discovered to have a gun he swiped from an unlocked vehicle in Orland Park, police said. Luke Harr, 29, was charged with two felony counts of burglary from motor vehicle and unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Harr, of the 9800 block of Cordoba Court, was released on an I-bond during a court appearance on Nov. 4. He is currently being held without bail for violating parole, according to a police news release.
Around 3:34 a.m. on Nov. 3, a police officer observed a man walking in the area of Steeplechase Parkway near Rainbow Circle in Orland Park. The officer stopped to talk the man, later identified as Luke Harr. Harr allegedly admitted that he had pilfered items from several unlocked cars in the neighborhood.
According to police, Harr further admitted to stealing a handgun from an unlocked vehicle near Green Knoll Avenue and Steeplechase Parkway. Officers also discovered that Harr had parked his 2015 Hyundai Tucson near Green Knoll. Harr allowed officers to search his vehicle, where they found a Smith and Wesson MP .380 handgun inside a backpack, police said.

The owner of the handgun identified the gun as his own. He indicated the gun was taken from his vehicle, which had been parked in his driveway on Green Knoll. Harr is currently on parole from the Jacksonville Correctional Center, where he had been serving a two-year sentence for manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.
Harr appeared over the weekend before Judge Miller at the Leighton Criminal Courts Building at 26th and California. He was released on a $25,000 I-bond. Harr is being held without bail for violating parole, according to police.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine if Harris involved in other car burglaries in the Orland Park area. Residents are reminded to always lock their car doors and to keep their valuables out of sight.
Residents in the area who believe their vehicles may have recently been burglarized are asked to call Orland Park Police at 708-349-4111 and asked to speak with the detectives’ division.
