Orland Park Realtor Joins District 135 Board
The new board member was appointed during a special meeting on June 22.

Orland School District 135 Board of Education has a new member after a special board meeting was held on Monday, June 22, to select a candidate to fill a board vacancy. Dahoud (Dave) Shalabi was selected to fill the vacant position—an unexpired 2-year term.
Shalabi is a real estate broker with REMAX and works out of Orland Park. Shalabi and his wife have three young children, one of which is currently attending school in the District. Shalabi has been a part of the District his whole life, as he attended Park, High Point and Orland Jr. High schools as a child.
“It is an absolute privilege to be able to give back to the community and to the school district that was an instrumental part of my own upbringing,” said Shalabi.

The Board announced at the regular meeting on June 9 that they would accept letters of interest from anyone eligible to fill the position through June 15 at 4 p.m. Three letters of interest were received by the Superintendent’s Office, and each candidate was asked to attend Monday night’s special meeting. The current Board of Education went into closed session to interview each of the candidates, followed by a discussion and eventually the selection of Shalabi to fill the position.
