Orland Township to Offer Extended Saturday Hours for Real ID Services
In recognition of the impending May 7, 2025, REAL ID deadline, Supervisor Paul O'Grady is proud to announce new extended service hours.
Orland Township, IL – In an effort to better serve our residents and ensure they have access to essential identification services, Orland Township is pleased to announce the improved availability of Real ID services by introducing extended Saturday hours at the Orland Township Secretary of State office as well as the 5-year lease renewal at the facility.
Starting March 8, 2025, and running through May 10, 2025, the Orland Township building located at 14708 S. Ravinia Ave. will be open every Saturday from 7:30 AM to 5 PM. This initiative comes as a critical response to the upcoming federal deadline of May 7, 2025, by which all residents will need a Real ID to access federal facilities and board commercial flights. Appointments are required and can be made at realid.ilsos.gov.

“We recognize the urgency surrounding the Real ID deadline, and we want to ensure our residents have ample opportunities to obtain their identification without disrupting their weekday schedules,” said Supervisor Paul O’Grady. “By securing these extended Saturday hours, we’re making it easier for everyone to access this important service.”
To obtain a Real ID, residents are required to present specific documentation, including:
- Proof of identity (e.g., U.S. passport, birth certificate)
- Proof of Social Security (e.g., Social Security card, tax form)
- Proof of residency (e.g., utility bill, rental agreement)
- Proof of signature (e.g., credit card, check)

About the Real ID Act: The Real ID Act was passed by Congress in 2005, establishing minimum security standards for state-issued driver's licenses and identification cards. Effective May 7, 2025, individuals will need a Real ID-compliant card to fly domestically and access federal facilities.
“This initiative is about making compliance easier for our community,” added O’Grady. “We encourage all residents to take advantage of these extended hours to secure their Real ID before the deadline approaches.”
