Orland Township Nurses Make House Calls for Senior Residents
In-home flu shot appointments available during October

Orland Township is providing senior residents with more opportunities to receive their seasonal flu shot, according to the office of Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady.
Beginning Oct. 1st, Township nurses will be available to make house calls to administer flu and pneumonia vaccines to senior residents, 65 years of age and older. Appointments will be available between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays only, and will run through Oct. 29th.
Senior residents must provide their Medicare card or pay by cash or check at the time of the appointment. No other insurance will be accepted, however, those individuals with a Medicare Advantage Plan or Retiree Plan may be able to submit the vaccine receipt for reimbursement and should check with their provider. Insurance will not be accepted for pneumonia vaccines.

Residents who do not feel comfortable entering the Township building can pull up in front of the building, during clinic hours, and a Township nurse will come out to administer the flu and / or pneumonia vaccines. Residents choosing this option are asked to wear a short-sleeved shirt.
“Taking care of our senior residents has always been a priority for Orland Township, especially during these trying times,” said Supervisor O’Grady. “Township personnel have been delivering prescriptions and groceries from the food pantry, and providing senior rides. We are happy to add in-home flu shot visits, by our Township nurses, to help keep our seniors safe and stay well.”
