Lux 131 Salon and Day Spa in Palos Park is a cut above when it comes to supporting children and teens fighting cancer. In the spirit of giving the salon hosted a holiday toy drive which accumulated more than 100 toys to benefit the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation (POTCF), a non-profit Orland Park-based organization which provides toys, gifts and gift cards to brave young cancer patients.
Lux 131 Salon and Day Spa prides itself on the quality of services and the satisfactions of the customers for over 20 years. Their mission is to consistently bring the freshest styles and ideas. Lux 131 knows that customers expect nothing less than the best, and they will provide it.
When asked about the toy drive, Lux 131 Salon and Day Spa Owner Iman Kanash said, “We wanted to give back to the community. I have several friends that have gone through cancer and I have seen how they struggled and there are many children that are struggling also.”

“The POTCF is especially grateful to Lux 131 Salon and Day Spa Owner Iman Kanash, 22 employees and all the generous customers for their enormous donation of toys. We are blessed to have the support of the Lux 131 Salon and Day Spa,” said an appreciative Colleen Kisel, CEO and Founder of the Treasure Chest Foundation.
The POTCF is a unique organization whose services now impact more than 13,000 young cancer patients enduring 20,000 clinic visits each month in 19 states across the nation. Nowhere else in the nation does such a program exist. Colleen Kisel founded the organization in 1996 after her then seven-year-old son Martin had been diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. Ms. Kisel discovered that giving her son a toy after each procedure provided a calming distraction from his pain, noting that when children are diagnosed with cancer their world soon becomes filled with doctors, nurses, chemotherapy drugs, surgeries and seemingly endless painful procedures. Martin celebrated his 24th anniversary of remission from the disease in March of 2017.
