PrairieArt Studio Offers New Drawing Classes for Kids

Orland Park, IL- September,17 2015- PrairieArt Studio, an art school which offers classes for all ages and skill levels, announces its new Art Through the Alphabet curriculum. This academic based program has been added to some of our 4-6 year old Getting Ready Drawing Classes to further enhance reading readiness, letter recognition, handwriting, concentration, and problem solving skills. The fun of drawing characters and objects that represent the phonetic sounds of
the alphabet letters and is incorporated in the program.

“Students are much more engaged with the reading and writing lesson when the drawing component is included,” says Director/Instructor Michelle Stanley. “In addition to the letter they are learning the ability to recognize the elements of shape and combine them to draw an object.”

The program is based on the program designed by Mona Brookes, author of “Drawing Thru the Alphabet” and “Drawing with Children.” She found through her many years of working with Art students and academic teachers, a growing need to develop a fun program to improve the hand –eye coordination and focus required to master reading and writing skills.

“I like this program because I can cater to the skill level of each individual student in class, handwriting skills develop naturally for all ages, while they are simply having fun drawing the words and the corresponding character or object.”

PrairieArt Studio is tucked away in a serene and quiet corner of Orland Park and offers art classes and workshops in a welcoming and non-competitive atmosphere. Owner/Instructor Michelle Stanley completed certification training in Berkley, CA with Mona Brookes, designer of the Monart Method and Drawing Thru the Alphabet.
