Preliminary Rounds This Thursday For Orland Park's Got Talent

ORLAND PARK, IL – Preliminary rounds for the popular Orland Park’s Got Talent competition will be held this Thursday, July 12, and Thursday, July 19, at Square Celt Ale House and Grill. Both preliminary rounds start at 7 p.m.

Participants who make the cut will go on to perform at the talent competition during Taste of Orland Park, the village’s three-day food fest at the Orland Park Village Center 147th and Ravinia Avenue, Aug. 3 to Aug. 5. Taste of Orland Park showcases local eateries and performances of all types from local people, schools and performance groups to some of the Chicago area’s top bands.

“The village’s recreation department has been getting ready for the Taste of Orland Park since last year’s ended,” said Trustee Dan Calandriello, chair of the village’s Recreation and Parks Committee. “Along with showing the amazing food that Orland Park restaurants offer, the Taste is a great way to see how very talented Chicago Southland residents are.”

Those vying for a spot in the final competition must participate in the preliminary rounds before the final competition on the community stage from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Taste of Orland Park. Final round winners will be awarded prizes valued at $300 for first place, $200 for second place, $100 for third place and $50 for the People’s Choice Award.

“We have preliminary rounds scheduled before the Taste so our judges can determine who moves onto the finals,” said Orland Park Director of Recreation Nancy Flores. “It’s exciting to see the different acts that come through all hoping to compete at the finals.”

Orland Park’s competition is open to everyone and participants need not live in Orland Park. There is no cost to compete and all ages are welcome. The preliminary rounds on July 12 and July 19 will be held at the Square Celt Ale House and Grill, 39 Orland Square Drive.
