Resident Injured Trying To Put Out Orland Park House Fire: Report

ORLAND PARK, IL — One person was injured after a fire in an Orland Park row house Saturday, July 30.

The fire started just before midnight on the patio of a home near 146th Street and Morningside Road, and quickly spread to the attic. A resident suffered minor burns while trying to put out the fire himself, according to a report from the Orland Fire District.

The fire could easily have spread to the other attached row houses but was quickly extinguished by firefighters, said Fire Chief Michael Schofield.

Fire crews quickly cleared the home of residents and the fire was contained to the one unit.

"Firefighters acted quickly to extinguish this fire, savings lives," Fire Chief Michael Schofield said.

The Orland Fire Protection District was assisted by Palos, North Palos and Tinley Park fire departments.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
