Teenagers Arrested For Homer Glen Armed Robbery: Cops

Wallace Thomas, 18, of Plainfield, and a male juvenile from Bolingbrook have both been charged with aggravated armed robbery.

HOMER GLEN, IL — Two teenagers have been charged with armed robbery after they robbed a gas station in Homer Glen on Monday, police said. Will County Sheriff's Office has charged Wallace Thomas, 18, of Plainfield, and a male juvenile from Bolingbrook with aggravated armed robbery.

According to police, the robbery occurred at 12:01 a.m. March 12 at the Speedway Gas Station, 15060 S. Bell Road. An unknown suspect wearing a white covering or pillowcase with the eyes cut out had displayed a handgun at an employee of the gas station and demanded money. It was later determined that $116 was stolen from the business.

The suspect was wearing a blue jumpsuit with a hood. He was also wearing blue rubber gloves, police said. The suspect fled on foot after taking the money and the employee ran from behind the counter and fled the store, attempting to find help. The employee of the gas station then saw the suspect jump into a vehicle that had been northbound on Bell Road, police said.

A witness was able to get the license plate of the vehicle the suspect had fled in. Police said the witness followed the car on northbound Bell Road, but lost sight of the car on Bell near McCarthy Road in Lemont.

Police said the suspect vehicle was later found in Plainfield. Detectives learned that the last person who had the car was Thomas. They were able to search the vehicle with consent and found one blue latex glove. The glove appeared to be the same type of glove worn by the suspect during the armed robbery.

Police said they located Thomas at his school in Joliet and he was taken to Will County Sheriff's Office Public Safety Complex. He was interviewed by detectives and confessed his involvement and gave information on who the other suspect (the gunman) was.

Detectives were able to find the other suspect in Bolingbrook and executed a search warrant at his house, police said. They found the pillowcase with eye holes cut out, as well as a blue latex glove and the black handgun, which turned out to be a BB gun.

Thomas was charged and taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility and the juvenile male was taken to the River Valley Justice Center.
