Sandburg HS artists compete in Scholastic Arts Awards
Gold Key winning work headed to New York City
Sandburg art students competed in the West Suburban Chicago Regional Scholastic Arts Awards and Exhibition at Downers Grove North High School. Sandburg students entered 42 individual works to compete with over 2945 individual works from 30 other schools in our region. Nine of our students’ works won an award.
Vinnie Scaravalle won a Gold key in Photography; Aysheh Jadallah and Kelly Winston won Silver Keys in Photography and Ceramics; and Olivia Good, Savannah Stern, Erica Such, Duaa Suleiman, Maddy Wikstrom and Brianna Yi won Honorable Mentions in the categories of Drawing, Digital Art and Photography.
The one Gold Key winning piece will now travel to New York City to compete nationally against all other gold key winners from throughout the United States. If Vinnie wins an award there, the work will be nationally recognized at Carnegie Hall in New York City this summer.
