Smith Crossing is celebrating 20 years in the Southwest suburbs with a series of events including the popular local parade. Residents, who perform as Seniors of Note, serenaded the crowd along the parade route from aboard a 60-foot, professionally designed float with a custom gazebo while staff distributed frisbees to enthusiastic crowds.

When it opened in 2024, Smith Crossing became the first—and remains the only—continuing care retirement community in the Southwest suburbs. Smith Crossing is sponsored by Smith Senior Living where its first retirement community was established in 1924 in Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood.
