Teacher Accused of Biting Child At Orland Park Daycare Center

Teacher claims child bit her first, prosecutor said.

ORLAND PARK, IL, Aug. 12, 2016 — A no longer-employed teacher accused of biting a student at an Orland Park daycare center claims the child bit her first, prosecutors said.

Auste Silionokas, 30, appeared Friday before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a charge of aggravated battery to a child.

Silionokas was employed at KinderCare, 14632 John Humphrey Drive, Orland Park, in what the prosecutor described as a teaching capacity, according to the charges. On July 26, she was in charge of a group of children when a 6-year-old boy became upset.

The prosecutor said Silionokas tried calming the child. As she wrapped her arms around him, the boy bit her hand. Silionokas allegedly returned the gesture by biting the boy on the cheek, as reported by witnesses to the classroom incident.

Although Silionokas’s purported bite did not break the child’s skin, he was taken to a nearby hospital to be examined. He was treated and released.

Silionokas’s attorney told the judge his client is a mother of two. She was reportedly breaking up a fracas between the 6-year-old boy and another child. He asked for a reasonable bond.

“It’s not the money I’m worried about but that she has the alleged audacity to bite a child,” Judge Felice said. “She already knows she’s not supposed to be doing this.”

Bail was set at $10,000. Other special conditions include no contact with the child or his family and to stay away from the school.

“I take it she’s no longer employed at the school,” the judge asked.

“She is no longer employed at the school,” Silionokas’ sattorney replied.

Silion0kas is due back in court Sept. 1 in Bridgeview.
