Treasure Chest Foundation Adds 50th Treasure Chest with Chattanooga, Tennessee Program
Pediatric Oncology patient Cezar at Children's Hospital at Erlanger in Chattanooga, Tennessee chooses a toy for the first time.

In this our 20th anniversary year, the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation proudly announces a remarkable milestone with the opening of our 50th Treasure Chest Program located at the Children’s Hospital at Erlanger in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Officially opening on Monday, October 24, 2016, this latest Program debuts in honor of the Genis Family of Frankfort, Illinois, whose Jack’s Back Cupcake and Lemonade Stand event is one of our important annual fundraisers. The new Program will serve 300 children and teens monthly, meaning we now provide comfort and smiles to more than 10,000 young cancer patients in 18 states nationwide.
“We have come a long way and we are so excited to open our 50th Treasure Chest Program in our 20th year of providing smiles to little ones,” said Treasure Chest Foundation CEO and Founder Colleen Kisel. “This would not be possible without the support of the Genis Family and the Jack’s Back Cupcake and Lemonade Stand. They are silent heroes for thousands of children and teens fighting cancer.”
The not-for-profit Treasure Chest Foundation now supports more than 10,000 children and teens each month who are diagnosed with cancer by providing a toy or gift card in 50 hospitals nationwide. Nowhere else in the nation does such a program exist. CEO Colleen Kisel founded the organization in 1996 after her then seven-year-old son Martin had been diagnosed with leukemia in 1993. Colleen discovered that giving her son a toy after each procedure provided a calming distraction from his pain. Martin celebrated his 23rd anniversary of remission from the disease earlier this year.
