Vascular Specialists' Dr. Eugene Tanquilut Welcomes Dr. Sanjeev Pradhan
Double Board Certified Vascular Surgeon, Designed First-Ever Hybrid Surgical Suite in Southland, Joins Vascular Specialists

It was Dr. Sanjeev Pradhan’s eagerness to make a real difference that prompted him to initially turn away from vascular surgery. “I wanted to do trauma,” he says, “but when I started my vascular surgery rotation as a resident, I discovered it was a fascinating mix of medicine and very sophisticated, technically challenging surgeries. At the time, both medicine and surgical techniques were quickly evolving and I got a real sense of pleasure that I could save lives and limbs as a vascular surgeon.”
Now, Dr. Pradhan has joined Dr. Eugene Tanquilut at Vascular Specialists in Olympia Fields and New Lenox. The two physicians hold very similar philosophies when it comes to patient care. “We are here to educate, to spend time with our patients, to understand their lifestyles so we can collaboratively make the best medical and surgical interventions for quality of life.” says Dr. Tanquilut.
Dr. Pradhan agrees. “We are committed to using evidence-based medicine at the university level. We use the most recent published data and the best information available to care for our patients. We include family, if welcome, in our conversations, and discuss the pros and cons of each treatment. Age, advancement of the condition or disease, lifestyle and other factors are all considered as we talk about medicine, minimally invasive treatments and major surgery to arrive at the right decision for our patient.”

Dr. Pradhan grew up in Wisconsin, attended Northwestern University, and now makes the Chicago area his home. He currently lives in Orland Park and is a soccer coach for his two sons. “I live, eat and breathe for my boys,” he smiles. He completed his General Surgery residency and Vascular Surgery fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine and is board certified in both. He has been invited to speak at local and national professional conferences and published numerous studies and reports. Dr. Pradhan enjoys speaking to clubs and organizations in Chicagoland. “Engaging in community outreach and education is important to me. I’m never too busy to answer questions.”
Since 2010, he has served as Director of Vascular Services for Palos Community Hospital, developing their Endovascular Aortic program. He also designed a unique hybrid vascular surgery suite which integrates advanced imaging techniques with a traditional operating room setting. This one-of-a-kind surgical suite in the Southwest suburbs gives surgeons the ability to treat life-threatening vascular conditions in a minimally invasive manner, leading to quicker recovery and fewer complications than former open, more invasive procedures.

Dr. Pradhan was the first surgeon in the Chicago Southland using fenestrated stents to treat abdominal aortic aneurysms. This advanced, minimally invasive, endovascular procedure means more people with aneurysms can now be treated, even if the aneurysm is near the renal (kidney) arteries.
Vascular Specialists, LLC is a complete vascular practice. The physicians treat peripheral artery disease (blockages of the leg arteries), cerebrovascular and carotid artery disease (strokes and mini strokes), venus insufficiency and varicose veins (problems of the leg veins), and renal artery atherosclerotic disease (renal artery narrowing). Both surgeons have advanced training in using stents to repair abdominal and thoracic aneurysms, carotid artery stenting, and hemodialysis access surgery. Both Dr. Tanquilut and Dr. Pradhan are affiliated with Advocate South Suburban Hospital and Silver Cross Hospital.
