Orland Park Curbside Spring Cleanup Starts Monday
Spiff up your property for spring with Orland Park's annual Curbside Spring Clean-Up, April 16-April 20.

ORLAND PARK, IL -- Spring is here and with it comes the Village of Orland Park’s yearly Curbside Spring Clean-Up. This year’s collection runs April 16-20 and will again be offered on residents’ regular garbage pick-up days. Residents can pitch their durable goods, household appliances and textiles curbside the week of April 16-20.
Orland Park’s Curbside Spring Clean-Up is held in cooperation with the village’s refuse hauler, Waste Management, and will serve more than 22,000 households. Residents are to place all trash and bulk items curbside by 6 a.m. on their pick-up day either bagged, contained or bundled, with no loose garbage..
“The village is happy to again partner with Waste Management to offer the curbside spring clean-up,” said Trustee Kathy Fenton, chair of the village’s Public Works Committee. “This will be the fifth year that we’ve offered curbside pick-up and each year we see an increase in the amount of household items getting disposed of safely and properly.”

Residents can dispose of durable goods or household items like microwaves, furniture, textiles, carpets, as well as white goods including washers, dryers and refrigerators. Please remove the doors on any white goods and appliances before placing them at the curb to prevent children playing on or around them. If disposing automobile tires the rims must be removed.
“Last year’s volume for the clean-up was almost 450 tons,” Fenton said. “Thanks to resident participation, over 40 additional tons of garbage was collected, which averages out to about 40 more loads.”

Items not accepted during the collection include electronics (televisions, computers, monitors and printers).
Information on electronics disposal can be found at ‘Refuse, Recycling, Yard Waste’ on the village’s website.
Hazardous wastes such as paints, oils and solvents will not be picked up nor will automotive batteries, gas, asbestos, and medical waste. Also excluded are construction and demolition materials -- concrete, rock, dirt, engines or large automotive parts or any oversized items that cannot be placed in a compactor type truck.
For large items, residents should try to break it down into manageable pieces. The trucks can accommodate up to four feet of material. Anything longer than four feet needs to be broken down. For questions or more information contact Orland Park Waste Management at 800-964-8988.
