Why Vote GOP in Orland Township?

There are three things that settle the concerns of voters. They like government transparency. They want fiscal accountability and responsibility from elected officials. And they expect consistency between the words and deeds of officeholders. At the end of the day, it is knowing their tax dollars will be managed with good stewardship, by good people seeking to earn their trust.

Why, some might ask, should voters trust the candidates running as Republicans in the upcoming township elections? Let me say very clearly, they should not. Trust cannot be the basis for giving somebody your vote. In most instances you do not know these folks. So how to choose?
Examine the entire field of candidates. Who supports them? Who finances them? Who picks them to run? These questions will all have answers, and you will almost certainly know a bit more about the folks who back them than you will about the candidates themselves.

Are they prominently backed by other politicians with agendas and motives of their own? What are the sponsoring politicians best known for? Selflessness? Corruption? Influence peddling? Patronage? Nepotism? Humility or hubris? The answers should matter. They will doubtless define the candidates you are considering.
In Orland Township you will be choosing from three slates of township candidates, two Democrat inspired, and one uncompromisingly Republican. Don’t buy the claim that one of those Democrat tickets is non-partisan, balanced by Democrat and Republican political philosophies. This is a marriage that will not work in reality, though sounding beautifully harmonious in concept. That ticket is backed by two of the most divisive Democrats in the Illinois General Assembly; they steamroll Republicans at every turn, and give them zero voice in whose legislation makes it to the chamber floor for debate. Those two career politicians are Sen. Mike Hastings and Rep. Bob Rita, and they will not abide Republican views expressed by even their own candidates. Past, in this case, is prologue, and a guarantee of future results.

The other Democrat ticket, led by an almost two decades long incumbent, Paul O’Grady, is dyed in the wool Democrat in thought and deed. And it is in disarray, having lost two of its longtime allies to the Hastings/Rita faction. Most prominent among those two defectors is Assessor candidate, Antonio Rubino, Rep. Bob Rita’s son-in-law. Rubino has conveniently fallen into an uncontested race, as has so often been the case with Rita. Rubino will be your next township assessor. What could go wrong?
We can guarantee that if Rubino’s property assessments produce increased revenue by increased property taxes, your GOP candidates will try mightily to return excess funds to taxpayers. Our pledge is to hold the line on taxes.

Your GOP slate of candidates, Debbie Kirby-Poczatko for Supervisor, Shannon Olson for Clerk, William Brennan for Highway Commissioner, and Kenneth Duffy, Frank Williams, Matthew Keane, and Ken Soltis for Trustee seeks to earn your trust by bringing government transparency, ending taxpayer funded pensions for elected officials, improving government efficiency by defunding redundancies in services, and proving ourselves to be good overseers and stewards of your hardened tax dollars.
