Will Jesse White Cruise to a Record Fifth Term as Secretary of State?
Or will voters give Republican Mike Webster a chance to enact his vision to modernize the office? Reboot Illinois profiles the candidates.

Mike Webster is a virtual unknown taking on well-known, four-time incumbent Secretary of State Jesse White. He knows it’s a David-vs.-Goliath match-up, but the Willowbrook Republican says he’s up to the task. His primary goal if elected: He wants to update the secretary of state’s office technology and revamp business operations.
“Try to navigate through the secretary of state website today, it’s not what it should be. We’re behind,” Webster said. “We need to streamline the office. We need to bring it into the 21st century.”
At 80 years of age and way ahead in the polls, Jesse White seeks a record fifth term. His main goal for a fifth term is to reassemble a safe driving task force to continue looking at improving road safety, including truck-driver safety.
