Woman Fights Back When Knife Pulled On Her In Walgreens Aisle
"I don't think he expected me to fight back," a woman said after an attack in the medicine aisle at the Orland Park Walgreens Tuesday night.
ORLAND PARK, IL - A shopper at the Walgreens in Orland Park Tuesday night was hospitalized after fighting back an attempted robbery in the store's cold medicine aisle.
The victim, a 43-year-old woman, told a source at the scene and police that she was at the Walgreens at 7960 W. 159th St. around 6:30 p.m. to buy chap stick and cold medicine when "a young male came up behind me put a knife to my throat and tried to rob me."
"I fought back but got my hand cut by the knife in the process," she said.

The woman indicated on social media that she was treated for a minor injury to her hand at Palos Hospital.
She said the man who tried to rob her and a female accomplice who was serving as a lookout were both arrested at the scene. Orland Park police later charged Jakhari Carrell, 18 and Sylvina Marquez, 22 in connection with the crime. Police said Carrell was later accused of damaging a mattress in his jail cell.

"It's scary that these things happen in our back yard," the victim, an Orland Park woman, said. "I don't think he expected me to fight back."
