173 Students Named IL State Scholars At Oswego D308 High Schools

The Oswego students join the nearly 16,000 students who have been named State Scholars since the designation was first introduced in 1958.

OSWEGO, IL — Between Oswego High School and Oswego East High School, 173 students graduating in 2024 were designated Illinois State Scholars, the district announced Thursday.

The 68 Oswego High and 105 Oswego East seniors join the nearly 16,000 students across the country who have been named State Scholars since the designation was first introduced in 1958. The award is non-monetary; each student receives a congratulatory letter and a certificate of achievement from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission, the state's college access and financial aid agency.

"We are very proud of the students from both high schools who have achieved this honor of being recognized as Illinois State Scholars," Andalib Khelghati, Oswego Community Unit School District 308 superintendent, said in a statement. "These students exemplify not only commitment and dedication to their academic success now and in the future, but they are also our future leaders."
