23 High School Students Sign Letters Of Intent For College Sports

Oswego high school student-athletes are gearing up to play at the collegiate level and signed on with several universities part of the NCAA.

OSWEGO, IL — Years of playing sports culminated in National Letter of Intent Signing Day Nov. 11, as 23 high school student-athletes in Oswego School District 308 signed to play a collegiate sport.

The day, which to many has become a celebrated event, is traditionally the first when student-athletes can commit with a school that's a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association after a verbal scholarship is offered. Signing as high school seniors, the students would play at their future school in the following academic school year.

"Years of hard work have led to this moment where the student-athlete is committing to the verbal scholarship offer they have received from their colleges for the next academic school year," Oswego district officials said in a news release.
