26 High School Students Sign Letters Of Intent For College Sports
Oswego high school student-athletes are gearing up to play at the collegiate level by signing on with several universities part of the NCAA.
OSWEGO, IL — Years of playing sports culminated in 26 high school student-athletes at Oswego School District 308 taking part in National Letter of Intent Signing Day Feb. 9.
"Congratulations to the following students from Oswego East and Oswego High who signed letters of intent on February 9th, instead of February 2nd due to a remote-learning day caused by weather, to play college sports," district staff said in an announcement Friday.
The day, which to many has become a celebrated event, is traditionally the first when student-athletes can commit with a school that's a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association after a verbal scholarship is offered. Signing as high school seniors, the students would play at their future school in the following academic school year.
