46 Tickets Written In Oswego Police Christmas, NYE Enforcement
The majority of tickets issued during Oswego police's two-week-long enforcement campaign were related to seat belts.
OSWEGO, IL — Oswego police "showed zero tolerance"for drug- and alcohol-impaired driving during its Christmas and New Year's enforcement campaign in which officers issued a total of 46 tickets, officials told Patch Tuesday.
The enforcement period started Dec. 16 and lasted through Jan. 2.

- 34 seat belt citations issued to a driver
- 4 seat belt citations issued to a passenger
- 4 speeding
- 2 distracted driving
- 2 non-moving violations
Officers also made two arrests related to driving with a revoked license, police spokesperson Cathy Nevara told Patch.
Comparatively, the last time Oswego officers participated in a campaign — from Nov. 18-28 for the Thanksgiving holiday — police issued 28 seat belt tickets and 6 for speeding, Patch reported.

The Oswego Police Department was among multiple law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois that participated in the holiday "Click It or Ticket" and "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign showing no tolerance for alcohol and drug-impaired driving.
The holiday enforcement campaign was administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation using federal highway safety funds.
