57 Tickets Issued In Oswego Police Memorial Day Enforcement
In the mix were 20 distracted driving citations, Oswego police announced.
OSWEGO, IL — During Oswego police's Memorial Day "Click It or Ticket" enforcement, officers issued a total of 57 citations, officials announced Thursday.
The recent traffic campaign, which lasted from May 13 to May 31, focused on reminding drivers to buckle up when driving. Although Illinois's seat belt compliance rate is 93.5 percent, and wearing a seat belt can reduce the risk of a fatal injury by about 45 percent, according to police.

"Through the Memorial Day enforcement campaign, we helped make Illinois roads safer and spread the word that seat belts and child safety restraints save lives," Public Information Officer Cathy Nevara said in a statement.
