Alleged Church Burglar Nabbed by Oswego Police

The 51-year-old Chicago man was located with the help of social media.

OSWEGO, IL — A Chicago man has been arrested for allegedly burglarizing a church in Oswego.

Kevin T. Johnson, 51, whose last known address is the 4000 block of N. Malden Ave. in Chicago, was charged with burglary, as well as an unrelated charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

At around 6:08 a.m. Jan. 24, police were called to St. Anne’s Catholic Church, located at 551 Boulder Hill Pass, for a burglary. Surveillance cameras captured footage of a man inside the offices of the church after midnight. Johnson’s photo was distributed through social media, which resulted in many tips and ultimately a positive identification of the man.

Police located Johnson Jan. 31 at 10:30 p.m. and he agreed to speak with detectives. After Johnson was interviewed, he was arrested and charged.

A judge set Johnson’s bail at 10 percent of $100,000. He is currently in custody at the Kendall County Jail.
