OSWEGO, IL — A 13-year-old boy is facing four felonies, including hate crime charges, after Oswego police say he shared "messages of a racial and threatening nature" on social media about two other 13-year-old boys.
Police said they began an investigation after the messages were reported on Monday.
On Thursday, the Kendall County State's Attorney's Office filed two counts each against the boy:
Police said the teen appeared in juvenile court on Friday and was released pending his next court date.
No additional details of the messages were released. Because the boy is a juvenile, his name was not released.
