OSWEGO, IL — The leaves are changing, and the air is crisper — that means Halloween is creeping in.
The spooky holiday falls on a Saturday this year, and the Village of Oswego set its recommended trick-or-treating hours for 4-8 p.m. Oct. 31.
The village reminded residents who don't want to participate in trick-or-treating to turn off their porch lights or place a sign on the door. Drivers are urged to use extra caution as children cross streets and driveways.
Families will have another opportunity to trick-or-treat in downtown Oswego businesses. Children will be able to show off their spookiest costumes while collecting candy from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 24.
Also Saturday, Oswego police will host their trunk-or-treat event from 10 a.m. to noon at police headquarters, 3355 Woolley Road. Kids will be able to fill their bags with candy and handouts, check out police and fire vehicles and meet first responders.
