Balcony Fire Spreads Into Bluegrass Parkway Fire: Oswego FD

Firefighters were dispatched to the house in the 300 block of Bluegrass Parkway around 3:30 a.m. Monday.

OSWEGO, IL — An Oswego house was significantly damaged early Monday after a fire rapidly spread from a second-floor balcony, officials said.

Firefighters were dispatched to a house in the 300 block of Bluegrass Parkway around 3:30 a.m. after residents reported being awoken by a crackling sound coming from their balcony. When crews arrived, they were met with a fire that had quickly spread into the house's attic space, according to a news release.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control using an aggressive attack and were able to keep the fire away from an adjacent house, officials said. The neighboring house sustained minor heat damage to the exterior siding.

The house sustained significant damage and was deemed uninhabitable. Officials said the cause of the fire, which remains under investigation, does not appear to be suspicious.

No residents or first responders were injured in the incident.
