Coffee Chain Eyes Oswego Location

The franchise would have a drive-thru, walk-up window and outdoor seating on Route 34 east of Ogden Falls Boulevard.

OSWEGO, IL — A popular coffee chain is looking to bring a location to Oswego, months after opening its second location in Illinois. Dutch Bros is requesting to annex and rezone property near Route 34 and Ogden Falls Boulevard for a drive-thru-only location.

The Oswego Planning and Zoning Commission will review the proposal on Thursday.

Right now, the vacant site is in unincorporated Kendall County. A portion of the site was annexed into the village in 1988 and is zoned as a B-1 regional business district. Quattro Development LLC is looking to annex the remaining two parcels and rezone them to B-1 for the Dutch Bros location.

The rezoning is necessary because any property that is annexed into the village is automatically classified as single-family residential, according to a memo from Oswego Planner Jeff Lind. The site is on the south side of Route 34, just east of Ogden Falls Boulevard.

The proposed site plan includes two lots, the first of which — a one-acre parcel located farthest to the west — would be the first to develop, with a 989-square-foot, drive-thru-only Dutch Bros Coffee, with a sidewalk and a room for a walk-up window on the west side of the building and outdoor seating.

According to village documents, the developer does not currently have plans for the second lot, which is also roughly an acre, although the proposal shows it with a 2,371-square-foot future commercial building. "Staff recommends the developer remove the plans for the future development on Lot 2" to allow for more flexibility later.

Village of Oswego

The West Coast coffee chain opened its first two Illinois locations, in Edwardsville and Urbana, in 2025, as well as locations in Fairview Heights and Mt. Vernon.

In addition to a proposal to bring a location to Oswego, the coffee chain is also seeking approval for a location on Roosevelt Road in Glen Ellyn.
