Coronavirus Death Count Continues To Rise In Kendall County

Local health officials report the recent death of a woman in her 80s, bringing death counts in Kendall County to 14.

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — The Kendall County Health Department reported the death of a woman in her 80s due to coronavirus-related complications on Thursday, May 7, bringing the total number of deaths in the county to 14.

"We wish every comfort for her family," county health officials said in the news release.

Kendall County health officials are reporting 16 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Wednesday to Thursday, according to county health data.

Total cases in Kendall County are 386, with 194 in recovery.

Older adults and people of any age with underlying medical conditions are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. The Kendall County Health Department suggests a three-step process to stay safe:

Step 1. Keep germs away

  • Frequently wash your hands with soap and water
  • Keep your living space clean and disinfected
  • Always use proper cough and sneeze hygiene
  • Avoid receiving visitors, unless the visitor is providing an essential service

Step 2. Make a plan

  • Identify and talk with someone who can help care for you if you get sick
  • Have supplies, such as medicines and groceries on hand
  • Find ways to have essential items brought to your home in the event you become ill
  • Create and practice alternative methods of social interaction with family and friends

Step 3. Keep up with the situation and health recommendations in your area

  • Stay home if you or a family member in your household is sick
  • Stay home unless you need food, medicine, or medical care
  • Wear a cloth face covering when away from home and unable to ensure social distancing
  • When enjoying the outdoors, always stay at least 6 feet or more from others
