Country Bash Kicks Off Venue 1012 Slate Of Summer Events

OSWEGO, IL — As spring blossoms and winter creeps come to an end, many are thinking of happenings to come in the summer months. In Oswego, a slew of events is planned at Venue 1012.

Kicking off the season at Oswego's new entertainment venue is the Country Bash, set to take place May 28. Details about the event have yet to be announced, but officials said Wednesday it's the first event in Venue 1012's debut summer series, which will include concerts, movies and more.

Venue 1012, located on Station Drive, near Orchard Road, will host both free and ticketed events over the year, including the return of long-time favorites — like Wine on the Fox, Christmas Walk and Oswego's Got Talent. The Air Force band Starlifter is also anticipated to perform another concert this year.

"We saw an under-utilized area of our community with plenty of open space and existing parking, and we turned it into an entertainment destination not only for our community, but for the region," Village President Troy Parlier said in a statement. "Orchard Road, and the entire community, will certainly benefit from Venue 1012."

New events will also be unveiled at the entertainment space that's less than a year old. A free Thursday night event series will bring a combination of concerts and movies to the outdoor space. Springbrook Community Church's Chicagoland Pops Orchestra is also slated to make an appearance.

On certain Saturday nights, ticketed concerts will take place, offering an elevated concert experience, according to village officials. The concerts will include performances from "some favorite regional acts" yet to be announced. Tickets for these concerts will go on sale April 1.

"I am looking forward to seeing everyone this summer enjoying all the great entertainment we have planned," Parlier said. "Our events not only provide great opportunities for families and friends to gather, but they really show all that Oswego has to offer to those who visit from out of town. Venue 1012 builds on the great events program we already have. It’s going to be a great summer."
